In October 2022, actor Henry Cavill announced that he would be returning to his role as Superman (movies about Superman are produced by DC Comics). In December, he made an about face revealing that he would not be returning to the role.

Essentially, what happened to him serves as a great lesson to creatives and content creators (frankly anyone): cross those Ts and dot those Is (i.e. have an executed contract) before engaging in work/making public announcements about projects.
